coveting this designer

my fav designer of the moment is  EMILY HENDERSON.  she has a show on HGTV called "secrets from a stylist" and boy does she know how to style a room.  on her show she says she picks the big pieces and adds to the room layer by layer.  she is always so informative and always has such great tips on how to add the small details that make the room look finished and put together! {for example} last night i was watching an episode where she designed this ^^^ room above.  she told us viewers how to style a sofa table that was behind the couch on the left.  this particular sofa table would be seen from all angles. so the question is... how do you style it and have it look good from all angles?? she chose books, pottery, and and a round glass piece filled with letters.  and it looked amazing. such a good tip!!  I've noticed she is BIG on the details she styles with.  Every room is always so beautiful and flows so so well.  Such an INSPIRATION to me!

design star {white box challenge}

i finally got around to watching HGTV's Design Star last night!  They did the White Box Challenge that they do every season.  Its so fun to see each designers creativity and how quick they come up with there design plan!  These are my top 3 favs.

The first picture is by designer Rachel. I am in love with all the pattern!  The huge black and white motif on the wall, the chevron cupboards, and the black and white striped rug! she did fantastic. the scale is dead on.  I just love her!!

The second picture was designed by Danielle.  She said her inspiration came from an old photograph of her mom.  The off centered x is so funky and i love how the plant she chose leans to the right over her couch.  The couch used to be all white. she taped stripes onto it and spray painted it gold. Super funky.  I think she will do really well in the competition!!

The third picture is by Britany.  i love how she used tape and paint to create the look of moldings.  but my ultimate fav thing in her room was her chandelier!! She just used the top of one of the former side tables. painted it. strung gold chain through the top holes and secured it with wire fastener.  anyone could do that and it makes a huge statement!!!

{leighton & liam's new room}

This is the new updated room for my little brother and sister.  The crib, hutch, and lamp were pre existing items.  We painted the room this beautiful Aqua blue.  Purchased the crib bedding and toddler bedding {not shown} from Carousel Designs.  Its called Taupe Suzani.  Carousel Designs is nice to buy bedding from because you can customize the placement of colors and decide where you want pattern and where you don't.  The White Chest we bought from Hobby Lobby.  It is the perfect size to use as a bench and doubles as toy box.  The taupe chair came from TJ. maxx.  It was the perect color, size, and had a great price tag!!  The coat hanger we made from a piece of 2x4, slapped some off white paint on it, and screwed decorative knobs into it.  Easy and Cheap DIY project which will get used all the time!  Hope you like it!!

meet the family

This ^^^ is my sweet family.  My husband Jeremy and i met at Preston High.  I was a freshman and he was a senior.  He was so handsome and i always had the biggest crush on him. {i don't like to remind him of that ha} After high school he served an LDS mission to Puerto Rico and he came home around the time that i graduated.  We began dating and by the end of September we were engaged to be married.  After lots of planning we began our life together.  December 6, 2008 was the big day.  Not many people know.. but we weren't able to get a Utah marriage license, so we were "offically" married in my dads living room before the actual ceramony at the Riter Mansion in Logan, Utah.

Shortly after we were married, Jeremy got sick and was hospitalized and diagnosed with Ulcerlative Colitis.  He was so so sick... poor guy.  Days later {january 15} we found out i was Pregnant with our first child.  A shocker since i was on birth control! Time alone with each other was going to be cut very short but we were so excited to meet our sweet baby! At 20 weeks we found out our little bean was going to be a boy! I was sure it was a girl! I had bought so many girl outfits and planned names for girls! The thought of having a boy never even crossed my mind. September 9, 2009 little Crew Demar made his big entrance into the world.  He weighed 6lbs,10 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long.  My labor was only 4 hours long, and went very smooth.  Not long after Crew arrived he was taken to the nicu.  He made a squeaking sound when he breathed and it sounded like he was having a rough time.  He soon came back to me and months later after giving him a CT Scan we found out he had a paralyzed vocal chord.  The throat specialist said it would heal with time.  If you were to meet Crew now and listen to him jabber you would never know he ever had a problem.  We are so greatful for that!!

When Crew was 4 months old I became pregnant with our second child! Yet ANOTHER shocker.  9 months later on October 13, 2010 our family was blessed with the most beautiful little girl!  London Rachelle weighed 6lbs, 13 0z and was 19 1/2 inches long! She was and still is absolutly stunning!! Every mom needs to experience a little girl.  She has always been so sweet and its so fun to see her and jer interact.  She is such a daddys girl!

Jer and i have been married now for 3 1/2 years.  Crew is 2 1/2 and Londons coming up on her 2nd birthday! I am so blessed to have such a sweet family!
